The baby plan

Friday, April 30th, 2010

For the last few weeks, I’ve been trying to come up with a baby plan.  No mother, that does NOT mean I am planning on having another baby…it means I wanted a plan for parents to be able to capture those milestones in a baby’s first year.  Children change THE MOST in that first year of life, and parents want to look back and remember all those details.  Especially since sleep deprivation can make those details a bit fuzzy!!

The next step in my plan…name it.  Here’s a few of the names I was thinking about:

I made a baby…now what?  The Baby Plan

Does this plan come with a nighttime nanny?  The Baby Plan

I didn’t know babies could burp that loud …The Baby Plan

Well, I take snapshots…isn’t that good enough?  The baby Plan

Finally, I decided to go with ‘Jack and Jill  | The Baby Plan’

All of my print packages have ‘first names’ in them, so I thought this was fitting!

What does it include?  For $250 you get:

~3 full sessions:  *newborn session | *6 month session | *12 month session

~the option to add a maternity|3 month|9month session on for only $50 each.

~10% off every order during the plan

~3 custom 5×5 mounted prints (one from each session)

Earlier this week I was able to introduce myself to a long line of beautiful, expecting momma’s (Just Between Friends-the big sale I’ve been talking about)…here was the card I handed out:

You can buy this package right on my website (go to shopping cart, then click on photo sessions, then click on jack and jill)…we can figure out the dates later!  Think of what a great mothers day present this would be!!

The Diva and Mr. ‘No’…it has a ring to it, don’t ya think?  The nicknames are pretty self-explanatory…the Diva would be Miss ‘C’, who was literally ‘madonna voguing’through the entire session.  And Mr. No is the cute little blondie who, in typical 2 yr old fashion, shouted ‘NO’ to every. single. thing. I asked him!  I think he would get along famously with my own 2 yr old blond boy!  They speak the same lingo.

These shots were taken around 5:30pm/6pm on our land…the light was gorgeous, and there were leaves on the trees-woot!

LOVE the shoes!!

*special thanks to their mommy for bringing such cute outfits and hats-I love when clients meet me with a rolling suitcase…always a good sign!

drowning…

Help….I’m drowning…under a pile of  clothes…if I have to type: Girls Clothing Size 2T Gymboree White Blouse with Matching Capris $5.50, etc.  I’ll scream!

I’m doing JBF this year…it’s a huge consignment sale in Maple Grove this coming weekend.  It’s held at the Golf Dome, so you can imagine there are more than a few things for sale.  Here’s some of the treasures I’m selling.  Do you see how my poor background stand is bowing under the weight of toddler clothing?

While I was downloading that picture, I came across this one…doesn’t my family look angelic?  Believe me, this is SO rare!

Here’s my little nephew’s 9 month pics!  Check out the hair…not even strong winds could put a dent in it.   Thank goodness I own professional grade hairspray!

Mom and dad, you might want to think about getting little Connor a haircut before his 1 yr pictures…otherwise you know I’m going to try and go for the record in world’s tallest baby mohawk.

As usual, he’s a bit reserved when the camera comes out…why are you so stingy with the smiles little boy?

We tried to get him to stand and hang on to the ladder, but he wanted no part of that…he’d rather lean.  I guess it looks pretty cool.

Was that an actual smile Connor??

“WHAT THE FRENCH TOAST?”

Betcha didn’t think I could work a crotch-shot into a cute baby post, did ya?*

*no animals were harmed during this session, but I did shoot my dog several nasty looks after he took a stroll in front of my camera.    FYI, I do not let me dog roam free when I have clients over, just relatives get this special treatment!

what to wear wednesday | monticello fashion ‘expert’

‘fashion expert’:  types the girl in the blue plaid pajama bottoms.  She is also sporting a hot pink scrunchie in her hair (circa 1987),  and purple slippers with a giant hole in the middle right heel.

Okay, obviously there is no expert advice coming from yours truly…that’s why I buy these ‘fashion plate pictures’ once a month, so the average family can see how easy it is to look stylish, cute and coordinated for pictures!  And since these outfits are all from gap and old navy, you can rest assured that you won’t be spending thousands of dollars to look good.

These outfits are casual and say to me “I’m fun, I’m hip and I don’t look like I’m trying too hard!”  Okay, the clothes don’t actually speak to me…this is just a feeling they emote to me.   Is emote spelled right?  It isn’t coming up on spellcheck as incorrect, but it looks weird.   Shhhh, Kelly, put the keyboard down and walk away.

Isn’t this little guy cute?  He kept charging at me while I was trying to take his pictures!  I’d like to think it was my charisma that kept him chasing after me, but I think it was the giant reflector balancing on my legs!  Don’t worry buddy, I get excited about shiny objects too ;)   I prefer diamonds, but to each their own.

Needless to say, there are a few blurry shots that will have to be pulled!  But he had plenty of charm and big smiles, so no worries mom-you’ll have lots to choose from!

Big sis came too, she was a doll…and obviously, the camera loves her too!

Happy Birthday Buddy!

My niece turned 8 a few weeks ago…and she’s almost taller than I am.  sweet.  About 3 more inches and she’s got me.  How did this happen?  She’s EIGHT!  I’m thirt ….29 1/2.

This little mini-session I had with her did not go exactly how I envisioned, but we still got some good ones!  We had three strikes against us:

1.  It was really overcast and gloomy…I was kind of hoping for some nice sun flare!

2.  There were mosquitoes…obviously, they didn’t get the memo about not hatching until June.  Princess Sophia is deathly afraid of any insects…always has been.

3.    The boys, (my husband, brother in law, nephew, and my 2 sons) decided that riding a ‘go-cart’ through the backyard during our session wouldn’t be a distraction.  WRONG!  The girls were so jealous!

All in all, I’m still glad we got what we got~ don’t worry Soph, I’ll get you up on the website soon!

There may, or may not have been a tiny tear drop rolling down her cheek in this shot (the bugs, you know!).

Cousins!!!  And look at all the use I’m getting out of my new little umbrella’s.  I have two boy sessions this weekend…I’ll have to restrain myself!

Well, Easter is over…and I am steadily working my way through a mountain of chocolate eggs and bunnies.  I should have it all finished up in about a week….maybe less!  A few days ago I got to meet the cutest brown eyed girl.  She’ll be two yrs old next week, and after spending an hour with her, I can say with certainty that her parents are raising one smart cookie.

Since I have a little boy of the exact same age, I can’t help but compare the two…my son has some serious catching up to do!!    Perhaps he just needs a more well-rounded education.  He excels in causing trouble and staging fits and tantrums…but lacks in the vocabulary department.  I hope it’s just a ‘boy’ thing…because I can barely get the kid to sit and listen while I read him a book.  I think he gets it from his father.

This first shot is my favorite from the session, look at that face!  Reminds me of the kids from ‘Little Rascals’…”Oh-tay”

Ho hum…

I was hoping that the splashes of color in the background would help ‘liven up’ the dreary browns that still cover our Minnesota landscape…whaddya think?  Still waiting to spruce up this blog…should start looking better in about 2 weeks…if you need to get to my website click HERE
