Well, I’ve done it. I’ve blurred the line between photographer and mommy. I had the location, the dress, the props, and the model. Only the model wasn’t feeling too hot. Actually, she was feeling too hot, as in sick with a fever. But, since she was my daughter, and she convinced me (7 yr olds can be quite convincing, you know) that she felt FINE. Until the camera came out…then it was 13 minutes of pure torture. The sky was too bright, the bike was too big, and the sidewalk had bugs all over it. The nerve. I didn’t get the dream shots I envisioned…but that’s what I get for letting my sick (she was SO not herself) kid tell me everything would be fine.
Lesson learned. I’m a bit bummed that I probably won’t be able to reshoot these…seeing as I took them up north, and my husband had to take apart the bicycle so the whole family could fit in the van! Nice.
*special thanks to the guys who own this building (it’s an antique store/bicycle rental shop/ice cream parlor in Hackensack, MN. When we showed up, the ‘bicycle rental’ sign was missing
I ran into the store and asked what happened…he said he’d put it back up no problem! Within minutes, I had my sign-thanks guys!!
Let’s begin with the FIRST AND ONLY SMILE OF THE DAY!!!

Do you see the pain and suffering on that little face??

creepy little smirk…

This is the shot with the bugs on the sidewalk…it was pretty much over by that point
