My ramblings will make perfect sense if you start here:
I’d love to tell you that our time in London was glamorous and full of non stop excitement…but the truth was, we were too broke to do much of anything. Yes, we made sure to go out every weekend (hello, college students)…and we did manage to take a few weekend trips (we toured Whales and Scotland), but during the week, we could not afford to travel anywhere but in our own backyard. The backyard, while quaint and pretty…was really boring. Our neighborhood was an ideal place to raise a family (I wish I could go back there now and do some photo-shoots on their little roads, so cute!), but it was not ideal for the lifestyle we had hoped for. About 3 times a week, Krista and I would venture into the nearby video store…rent a VHS tape (2 pounds each…roughly $3.50 u.s.), and bring it back home to watch. Our family let us use their VCR without complaining (I’m sure they thought we were total losers…but they were polite and left us alone)…and there we would sit and watch our favorite chick flicks. When we weren’t renting movies…we read romance novels. I’m telling you~the excitement that went down in our Toy Story themed bedroom was epic.
One of the highlights of our stay was when our boyfriends (now husbands), came to visit for a long weekend. We took them all around London, to our favorite spots, restaurants, pubs…everywhere! They were not impressed with the food quality or the outrageous prices of everything (what do you mean a beer is going to cost me $8.00?). The guys kept saying they couldn’t wait to get ‘back to the real world‘. We were so happy to see them and spend time with them…but let’s be honest, what we were really excited for was what they brought along with them. Two GIANT suitcases filled to the brim with goodies. Books, candy, (cover your ears mom) smokes and mountain dew(yes, they brought us pop~Mountain Dew was not sold where we were living). Everything a classy college girl could ask for! After the boys left, I remember Krista and I lying side by side on our matching twin beds…beef jerky and reeses peanut butter cups on the table between us, an open can of mountain dew on my lap and a stack of new Danielle Steel novels to pour over. Life was good….at least until our supplies ran out.
Here is my little winner from the ‘so you think your kids cute’ contest I ran over a month ago! I took way too many pictures, but little miss ‘P’ was a born star, and she wasn’t about to let her moment in the spotlight go quickly!
She got these cute little leggings and headband from mon petit…this is the image I chose to enlarge for their store display!
I’ve been really surprised lately…these cake smash kiddos are lasting longer than I expect them too, and they’re letting us keep shooting after they’ve washed up!!
