Men using Pinterest?? | Farmington, MN children’s photography

Call me crazy, but I think I’ve got my husband hooked on Pinterest…I was surfing the site last night, and he kept peeking over my shoulder, “hey, that meatball recipe looks good”…”oooh, white chili”…”I like the landscaping and that deck”.  I think I might need to get him his own account.  Do men pin things?  I don’t know.  But it would be interesting to see what dude boards would look like…

“MY DREAM BOAT” (pimped out fishing boat pics featuring built in beer coolers and TV’s with ESPN playing)

“HAIRSTYLES I LIKE” (pictures of Will Ferrell in Anchorman perfectly coiffed)

“SIX PACK” (toss up here…could be favorite beers, or a washboard stomach)

“MANLY FOODS” (recipes of burgers and all things beefy)

“I LIKE TREE’S” (tips on how to plant as many tree’s on your property as humanly possible)

“MAN CAVE” (articles on how to convince your wife that if you build a bar in the basement, you will use it ALL the time)

“SHOES I GOTTA HAVE” (a pair of Napoleon Dynamite in his moon boots)

“VACATION DESTINATIONS” (images of KOA’s and log cabins in the woods, preferably within a 2 hour drive of your home.)

“WORDS TO LIVE BY” (featuring canvas prints with hand painted quotes such as: ‘I don’t see why you’re making such a big deal out of this’   ’six to one, 1/2 a dozen to the other’  ’so, does this mean you’re mad?’  ‘it’s twelve o’clock somewhere’  ’shhh, the games on’)

Wow, that turned into a weird tangent….

One of my favorite little boys is growing too fast…I think I need to extend my baby plan into a 5 yr deal…one year is too short!  Here was his six month session, isn’t he a love?

A movie ‘inside’ a movie? | Minneapolis baby photographer

Monday, November 21st, 2011

Well, now that I’ve really hyped up my big Twilight Weekend…I figure I better tell you how things went!  First of all, I don’t think I’ve sat through 7 hours of movie’s in one sitting…Friday night we watched the first 3 in the saga…it was delightful…no interruptions from kids…no husbands asking dumb questions…and we could shout at Jacob to take his shirt off as often as we liked without fear of eye rolling or reprimand.

Saturday we went out for an early dinner at Victoria’s in Rochester (yum), then headed to the theater 45 minutes early to ensure that we got the best seats in the house.  Finally, the movie started, and the candy bags were opened.  Now, I LOVE going to a packed movie theater for certain genres…like comedy’s or horror films.  I like when the crowd laughes out loud and makes a movie funnier than it actually is…but this type of genre is best viewed without all the distractions…especially if you are my sister in law and have been counting the moments to see breaking dawn for months.  But distractions was what we got.  The guy behind us and to our right had a horrible cold and spent the 2 hours sneezing loud wet sneezes into our hair (I watched the entire movie with my scarf wrapped around my face).  The girls in front of us had their phones out the entire time texting each other.  The guy behind us and to our left was obviously dragged to the theater against his will.  EVERY time Bella and Edward got a little fresh (and this movie has a lot of it), he would groan and complain to his wife….she spent the entire 2 hours telling him ‘it was going to get better’.

And then…someone died 3 rows back.  **spoiler alert** During the scene where Bella is giving birth to her demon baby (sometimes that happens), the lady a few rows back started screaming and wailing, “No, don’t you die on me.  Oh my God, someone help me please.  God don’t take him from me.  Please someone help!”  Instantly, people started turning around and a few jumped over seats to help her.  I thought the guy next to her had died.  My stomach dropped and I felt helpless.  Then I thought, well, why isn’t anyone shouting for a doctor?  Then I figured, okay, this woman is absolutely crazy, and she’s talking about Bella dying on the big screen (you know how some people think soap opera’s are real??).  So then I went back to trying to watch the movie because I figured this woman was insane, and I was missing the best part of the movie!  Suddenly the lights went on, the movie stopped, and people were shouting for a doctor.  (And the people in the very front of the theater were all screaming, WTF?  Because they didn’t realize that people were dying in the back). Okay, so the woman wasn’t exactly crazy.  But her boyfriend did not die.  He fainted.  Like a big weenie.  Because of the blood in the movie.  So then we all got to sit and stare at weenie-pants for 10 minutes while we waited for the EMT’s to show up. Someone said to him, “you are awfully pale”,  he mumbled that he always looked like that.  I turned around and whispered inappropriately, “vampire” which got a few chuckles.

Finally, Mr. Iturngreenwhendemonbabiesarebirthedsopleasedon’tmindmewhileIplaydeadandruinmovies was escorted out by several nurses, a doctor, and 4 EMT’s (we were in Rochester, home of the mayo clinic, and of course there was a doctor and two nurses seated 1 row over from him).  Then the manager started thanking everyone for their patience, and told us proudly that the movie was digital, and wasn’t that so great, because he could easily rewind it 5 or 10 minutes.  Everyone agreed, 5 minutes back would be far enough, and we settled back in to our seats.  Suddenly, the movie started playing in fast forward before our eyes.  Screams of “NO, STOP!  You’re Going the Wrong WAAYYY” filled the air.  But our complaints fell on deaf ears, and the movie started up 10 minutes past where it should have started.  My sister in law was ready to cut someone.  When we left the theater, she did complain and get 3 new movie passes.  She will probably use those 3 passes 3 times before I see her next weekend!

Okay, I really need to get better at topic transitions.  My apologies to this family and their sweet little girl, who did not ask to be put on the same blog post as vampire movie reviews.  Miss ‘M’ was a little apprehensive at first, but she warmed up soon enough.  I LOVE her red hair and blue eyes, so adorable!  I was lucky enough to see her again a month after this to do family pictures (and her brother has even MORE red hair!!), but I have to save those pics for later!

This first shot is my FAV!!

I should buy stock in Target | Montrose, MN baby photography

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

I just spent a very enjoyable hour in Target (until I had to hand over my credit card)…I wanted to purchase a few things for the studio dressing room (hairspray, combs, etc.)…This is the kind of shopping I love.  Product shopping.  Not grocery shopping.  Not (God forbid) swimsuit shopping.  I just spent time in the fun aisles…makeup, shampoo, home storage (not sure why organizational products excite me, it’s not like I’m even remotely organized).  I am all stocked up now.

So, a big thank you to Target…for carrying items I never knew I needed, until they were staring at me from your clean, white shelves.  Random impulse by of the day:  ‘booger swipers’…a specially formulated wipe that gently removes all traces of goop and grime from children’s faces…I’m pretty sure a kleenex would have been good enough, but like I said…I needed it.

We are traveling back a month or two to this little dude’s b-day session…He was reaaally into his cake…hard core.  It was hard to keep my camera in focus, he had us laughing so hard :)

Big brother was lucky enough to get to join into the mess and mayhem…

Little Women.  My 8 yr old daughter just finished reading this book.  I’m actually pretty surprised she read it (it looks a little shorter than I remember, they must make simpler versions)…I don’t think I picked up that book until I was at least in my early teens.  I was very impressed…she even gave me a little review of the books highlights when she was finished (her abridged version boiled down to ‘so there were these 4 March sisters, who were very poor because of the Civil War, they loved each other very much).  Last night I took the kids (minus Brady, I’m not a total glutton for punishment) to the library, where Lucy signed up to get her very own library card.    I had high hopes for the books she would choose to read for her first few weeks of summer vacation.   Would she pick ‘Anne of Green Gables’?  ‘Catcher in the Rye’?  ‘The Great Gatsby’?  Nope, she discovered a thought provoking series of books entitled:  The Olson Twins. I see lots of deep thinking in her future!  Ack, who am I to judge, I used to pour over Sweet Valley High like it was crack.

Big picture share today.  Why?  Because this session involved two of my favorite things.  Cake & Baby.  Baby & Cake.  Both are totally edible, see for yourself!

Wait for it….

Poor little smurf :(

Love these family shots!

That last shot was done AFTER the cake smash.  This is not typical…usually after rolling around in blob of greasy, slimy, delicious fat, we tend to call it a day-but he was still happy-so we grabbed a few more, I’m glad we did!!

What’s not fair tonight:

~the fact that I went out to a Mexican restaurant tonight with the Klatt family to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, while everyone (the staff) who actually had a valid reason to celebrate such an occasion was busy serving us…

~the fact that I ordered a margarita and didn’t realize that a ‘large’ drink meant alcohol served in a glass bigger than my head…which I then felt guilted into drinking in its entirety (wasting liquor in my family is frowned upon), which in turn made editing pictures very difficult tonight.

~the fact that I have a job in which I CAN drink while working…without the slightest risk of being fired…no worries, I only drink during blog posts…not actual sessions.

~the fact that I ordered a taco salad (in a pathetic attempt to be slightly healthier than the other menu choices)…and yet it consisted of a deep fried shell/bowl filled with 5 inches of re-fried beans and a few shreds of lettuce.

~the fact that I really wanted Brady to be potty-trained, but then regretted it tonight when he made me take him to the bathroom 3 times during supper…can’t we just put a diaper back on?  Mommy’s drinking her margarita in a bucket!!!

~the fact that tonight’s episode of Grey’s anatomy did not include a musical interlude in the midst of surgery….just kidding, did ya’ll see that episode a few weeks back…scary stuff.

Okay, no more whining about what’s fair or not…let’s get to some eye candy.  Here’s a few from my day of mini-sessions awhile back…

This is my 3rd time taking pictures of this little cutie-he was a little nervous at first (always a bit nervewracking for ME when it’s only a 20 minute session), but as you can see, it didn’t take him long to snap out of it!

Gosh, she was cute :)

Deep thinker…or treasure hunter?

Ugh, these 2 were so sweet together!

I’ll have some more mini’s up soon!

Good news~our entire family is potty-trained!  Think of all the $$ I am going to save on diapers…I could probably afford a little vacation…say, Hawaii?  Maybe not, but I am going to Wisconsin in 2 weeks, which is nearly like going to Hawaii…a little cooler…a little pastier…a little less tropical smelling.  Sigh.

There’s only one glitch in our potty training techniques.  The disrobing process.  Brady insists on taking off all of his clothes to use the toilet.  Sometimes he’ll leave his socks on, but usually they come off too.  Now, at home, this is not a big deal.  Sure, I get sick of helping him put his pants on 47 times a day, but it’s not the end of the world.  However, when he does this in public, it’s suddenly not cute and funny anymore…it’s annoying and quite frankly, unsanitary.  His tally of clothes heaps on public restroom floors is reaching epic proportions…*Target  *Beef o Brady’s Pub and Grill  *Salem Lutheran Church  *Walmart (double ewww factor)  *Subway  *Lake Ridge nursing home  *The library   So help me, if he ever needs to tinkle at a truck stop, I am going to tell him to just go in his pants.

Hopefully he’ll outgrow this strange fetish before school starts…that could get awkward!  Anyways…no good segue here…

I am so in love with the pictures of this little boy…he is such a doll!  His eye-lashes are insane-WHY do girls never get lashes like this?  I guess that’s why God invented mascara…for us ladies with the puny lashes :)

yummy ;)

I’m a bit hostile towards all things internet.

-darn you facebook, for not letting me upload any pictures…I’m getting sick of your ‘fail’ messages.

-darn you wordpress blog, for erasing my entire blog post that I wrote out last night…it was comic genius…at least I thought it was last night around 11:30pm.

-darn you Internet Explorer 9…I think you are the main problem here…ever since we installed you, you’ve been crashing my computer on a regular basis.

-darn you pinterest…for taking a perfectly productive day, and turning into a 3 hour distraction.

On the bright side…the internet will allow me to share these cute pictures with you!  These 2 siblings were so gorgeous…ages 1 & 4 can be tough-but they did fabulous!  Thanks for coming out to see me~I hope we can do this again ;)

I don’t normally process pictures so light and ‘airy’…but the colors they were wearing looked so perfect with this type of look…keeping things fresh ;)

My favorite shot of this little cutie!

yup, she’s 4…and a total supermodel :)

mysterious | buffalo, mn baby photographs

I watched a really bad movie last night.  So bad, I can’t recommend it to anyone, let alone even admit I watched it.  The problem is…I’m still laughing about it.  Because even though it was lame to the point of embarrassment, there was one scene that I can NOT stop giggling about.  I just you-tubed it again and sat and laughed out loud (yes, sometimes I really do LOL…sitting here at my computer all by myself…just lol’ing).   I would tell you the name of the movie…but it’s very mysterious.  (warning: do not click on that link if you have even the slightest bit of class or decorum…it’s not ladylike)

Back to business.  I loved this little girl, she had so much personality packed into her tiny little one yr old self!  You’ll see what I mean!  These first two are some of my favorites…I love how creamy and soft her skin looks :)

See, she’s such a sweetie!

These bright colors make me happy!!
