This morning I was dropping Riley off at preschool, and when I got back in the mom-mobile, I heard a strange thump in the back. Since I love all those gruesome shows (criminal minds, csi, law&order svu, etc) my immediate thought was that someone was in the back seat with a butcher knife, lying in wait. My second thought was, it’s a little early in the morning for ax murderers, so I just drove home.
During my drive, my mind wandered back 15 years (aren’t I too young to have flashbacks?)…cue the dream sequence. I was sixteen years old, and I had just finished my shift at SportMart (girls, this is a good place to meet lots of nice young men…of course, I have no personal experience with this, as I was dating Korey at the time). I walked to the parking lot, and hopped in my mom-mobile (you heard it right, I’ve driven a mini-van since I was 16 yrs old), cranked up the tunes, and headed for home. During the drive I heard some thumping and bumping as I raced through town, but I figured my parents must have left something in the back seat. I got home, pulled into the garage, and turned off the car. The silence was a stark contrast to the loud music I had been singing along to. As I gathered my things, a voice shouted, “Hi KEL!” and a head popped up from the backseat. Holy Heart-attack Batman. My super awesome boyfriend (can you believe I married this guy?) had been hiding in the back of the van the entire drive, just waiting to scare the crap out of me. As it was, I probably had to change my pants (I’ve blocked some of that night from my memory). His buddies were in the street, laughing hysterically…apparently they had been following with his car the entire drive as well. After the initial scare wore off, I was mostly embarassed. My singing was probably not the best…and what if I had been doing something really embarassing, that I didn’t want him to know about? Like picking my nose, and flinging boogers in the backseat (could happen), or having an encouraging pep-talk with myself,“kelly, you’re good enough. smart enough. and goll darn-it-people like you.” I learned a valuable lesson that night…always check the back of the car before you begin driving, and never let your boyfriend make a copy of your key, it’s just asking for trouble.
All right, I just had to get all of that out of my system, since I haven’t written a blog post in over a week. I kind of missed it, it’s like therapy. 2 weeks ago I had mini-sessions, and of course, it rained on the day we were supposed to do them. I ended up rescheduling everyone to Sunday, and with the exception of a few people, it worked out really well (and we had a gorgeous day, much like this one!!). There were 2 back to back sessions that were not able to come on Sunday, so they came to my house on Saturday afternoon, and the weather cooperated with us-thank goodness. These families are my husband’s cousins-who were just in town for the weekend before heading back to Washington DC and Wisconsin.

cousins!

I had to show this next one too…love the sun!

This little sweetie is only 2 months…she did get her head up by herself for a minute, but it was pretty exhausting

This family is so amazing…they’ve had one heck of a year…their mommy underwent a little thing called brain surgery. You are doing so awesome Amber-and your family looks so happy together. I don’t know if I could have survived what you went through-God gave you an amazing amount of strength

Seriously, this dude is the same exact age as my Brady (2 1/2), but he would NEVER strike a pose like this-love it!

This might be my favorite from the day-work it baby!
