studio prop & background sale for local Minnesota Photographers

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Heads up~  photographers…I’ve got a little slideshow of things for sale.  I was going to do facebook, but I thought this would be the easiest route (although I’ve come to the conclusion that there isn’t an ‘easy’ button on any of this!).  Here are the instructions!

*CLICK HERE to view the slideshow.  Access Code:  prop

If you do not want to sit through the whole slideshow, click the ‘grid’ tab(looks like a grid) at the top right of the slideshow.  Then you can easily choose which image you would like to see.

To see the price, simply click on the item you are interested in, and look at the ‘name‘ of the image #.  For instance: pbkk_15 studio sale 037.  The number directly after the pbkk is the total cost(total is $15).  Confusing much?  When I numbered the images, I did use a $$ symbol, but apparently that does not show up in my slideshow!!

*To purchase an item, email me with the item you’d like: kelly@photographybykellyklatt.com  I will respond with paypal instructions if it the item is still available.  I will try to keep the slideshow updated, and remove things once a transaction is complete.

*I’ve priced things fairly, so please don’t haggle me~LOL!  If something is still available after a few days, I’ll consider it!

*I would prefer local pickup, NOT shipping.  I will consider shipping the small hats/backgrounds/fabrics, etc.  But I’d like to keep this as simple as possible (for myself).

*I will have designated pick up times here at the studio (located 7 miles out of Monticello), or at my husbands store in Buffalo (@ Klatt True Value, near the Walmart) during the next few days…in your email, please let me know where you’d like to pick up.

And because the blog looks naked without a picture…

Brace yourselves….it’s about to get all kinds of UGLY up in here.

Without Further Ado…I bring you our Christmas card (awkward family style).

FRONT:

Inside Spread:

BACK:

A few of the pictures closer up for your viewing enjoyment:

Ride that train.

The boys didn’t quite understand why they were forced to wear turtlenecks and sweater-vests…but Lucy knew, she was like totally embarrassed, mom.

I knew that mistletoe headband would pay for itself…we’ve had it for 11 years, and it continues to bring joy and happiness to all who wear it.

Every prop closet should have a rifle??  *editor/wife’s note:  my husband is not a pedophile…even though several people have commented that the moustache lends him a certain air of creepy pervertedness.

Have you had enough yet?!!  I have.  My poor, poor grandmother was SO very confused by the card.  She called my mom up and was like, “I didn’t know Kelly wore glasses?  Why are they dressed like that?”  She (along with a few others) didn’t get the joke.  I think she was bummed because she didn’t have a ‘cute’ card that she could bring with her to show off at the beauty parlor.  I might send her a new card, just so she can show her friends without fear of humiliation!!

And for those of you that are new to the blog and have never seen pictures of my family…here we are looking ‘normal’ (is it pathetic that I feel the need to justify our looks to the general public?)!   Sadly, I don’t have an updated family picture (except for the awkward ones, I guess that needs to be remedied!).

Kor and I on our trip last February.  Eating dinner on our cruise….eating is the best part of any vacation!!  See, Kor is super cute, not creepy!

And my kiddos from this fall.  They clean up real nice :)

Hey, since you’re here…FOLLOW me on FACEBOOK!

I’m not gonna lie…this is not an original idea…I’m sure other have done similar shoots like this, but I first saw a card like this done by photographers bobbi and mike.  They are super cool and creative, and I hope they don’t mind that I borrowed their idea :)

Happy Birthday Kiddos!! Monticello, MN children’s photographer

Friday, September 30th, 2011

I think I feel older during my kids birthday’s than MY birthday….you know?  This weekend we’re celebrating Lucy’s 9th birthday, and Riley’s 6th birthday.  The family comes over tonight for sloppy joes (kids request), cake & presents…then tomorrow we’re heading to the Renaissance Festival, if only I had a cool costume…

I had a couple of sessions Wednesday night (during the mini heat wave), since it was so beautiful outside, I figured I should do a little mini-session of my own!   I asked Kor to send the kids out as soon as I was done, and I actually got some cute shots of them all together (YAY!  Not always possible!).  This first shot is them ‘posing themselves’.   Much more innovative than what I usually do!!

Then I tried to pose them, and they got all creepy and serious on me.

There were other cute smiling ones, I’ll share those another day :)

If it’s not inappropriate, than I have a crush on my son…his eye-lashes kill me.  If that whole crush comment freaked you out~then I was just kidding, pay no attention to me.

Neighbors field.

Still crushing on my son.  May need counseling.

I didn’t take any of Lucy alone (that turned out) the other night…but here are some of her from the summer…I don’t think they ever made it to the blog!  I love how these turned out!

I have a 9 year old.  I need a drink.

I did a little session of the boys together this summer as well, those were on the blog HERE.

R&R is good for the soul | hackensack, mn photography

Monday, July 11th, 2011

Oh where to start.  Well, I’ve been offline for over a week…we spent almost 11 days up at my parents cabin up north (in between Hackensack and Longville, just south of Walker).  The weather cooperated like a dream.  Every day was warm and sunny…it really was sickeningly perfect.  We kept busy and did some sort of ‘outing’ every day.  Parade, Fireworks, Turtleraces, Movie (cars 2), Beach, Restaurants, Parks…plus, the kids got to really work on their summer tans…got a good base going…I’ll probably just need to bring them to the tanning salon a few times this summer to keep up their color.  Kidding.  But we did run out of sunscreen towards the end of the week, which resulted in some rosy cheeks and red noses :(

We were total bums, rarely showered (hey, the lake water was clean!)…I read 4 books, swam in the lake for hours every day, and ate more than my share of smores.  Every evening, Kor and I enjoyed our nightly rum and coke (blasters, my dad calls them) by the fire…and would head into the cabin to watch whatever was on channel 4 or 9 (the only 2 stations that come in…I’ve had my fill of David Letterman).  Of course I have pictures to share from our week of relaxation…some are with my nice camera, and some with my point and shoot.  I tried to take a walk with my macro lens and get some ‘nature’ shots, but Brady was crabby and kept hanging on me saying, “carry me mommy”, so I didn’t get more than a block from the cabin…but there were still quite a few little wildflowers close by.

This shot cracks me up~I told Riley to wash the marshmallow off his face with the hose…he came back to me dripping wet.

Eating Pringles…waiting for the fireworks to start!  BTW, I highly recommend bringing a pickup truck to a fireworks display…we piled blankets and cushions in the back…it was sooo comfy, and the kids loved it (plus, they couldn’t run away!!!).

In the daisy shot above, there is a cool white spider…it’s kinda hard to see on this little blog~but it was a type of spider that I’ve never seen before…not that I study spiders…usually, I run.

The shot below is the turtle races…Riley was a total wimp, the second the turtle moved his legs, Riley screamed and dropped him, which landed the poor little guy on his back…everyone watching was like, “Ooooh, NOOOO!”  I just pretended the kid wasn’t mine.

Above shot~is there something on my face??

My mom enjoying her evening glass of merlot (aka: Grandma Juice!!)

My parents cabin is alllll the way up that long staircase.  Since the cabin was so far from where we were swimming…we encouraged the children to pee in the lake…I apologize to any nearby swimmers/boaters.  Fingers crossed that the kids don’t take this little gem of laziness and use it in our little swimming pool.  Gross.

knuckleheads | buffalo, mn kids photographer

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

Knuckleheads.  The word aptly describes my boys. It also happens to be the name of the clothing line my little guys are modeling.  The brand is knuckleheads, and I absolutely love them!  Mon Petit, the baby boutique I partner with, had asked if I had any little boy sessions coming up that could model these shirts for her.  I greedily offered up my own offspring for the chance at using these shirts!   I did these without the assistance of my husband (he made up a lame excuse about needing to finding a sprinkler…I’m pretty sure the grass has had enough rain, good one honey!)  However, one can accomplish a lot with a pocket full of smarties…the candy bribe powered us through a good 10 minutes before they were done.  But I will take what I can get-I love these!!  Obviously, I’m a bit biased…

Wow, after looking through these, I realize how old my dudes look.  Yikes!  I think my next session will be with their foot jammies and their blankies, just to remind myself that they are still little!  **Special thanks to my lovely assistant Lucy!  I think my 8 yr old daughter has a gift for holding the reflector just so...bonus–she accepts candy as payment :)   If you are thinking of booking a session with me…I too, will take candy instead of cash.  Oh wait, my hubbie got mad the last time I spent 4 hours editing a session with only a bag of twizzlers to show for it…maybe not.

he’s your son | buffalo, mn childrens photography

Monday, April 4th, 2011

He’s your son.  I can’t begin to count the number of times this phrase has passed through my lips in the last few years.  I used it a lot when Riley was a toddler…he’s five now, and becoming a pretty decent little dude…but Brady…oh, he’s another story.  He takes the cake when it comes to stubborness, naughtiness, and any other ‘ness’ that you can think of that has a negative connotation.  Not that I don’t love him to pieces.  Not that we don’t laugh at his antics all the time.  But he is hard work, and that’s why Korey and I both throw the ‘he’s your son’ phrase back and forth at each other on a daily basis…keeps us sane…blaming each other for our child’s spaztic nature.

I’m also very proud of the fact that I took Brady’s pictures only ONE day after his 3rd birthday…no neglected 3rd child syndrome over here.  Now, will these pictures actually get printed, displayed and scrapbooked before he turns 18?  The jury is still out on that one.

Here’s my little monster Brady, giving me his typical 2 minutes of patience before he left he took off for greener pastures.

No, that’s not the ‘peace’ symbol…that’s him telling me he’s 3 yrs old…he counts the thumb.

Yippee!  I got smarties!!

And just like that, sugar crash.  Please note the super awesome tattoo I gave him.  What?  That’s not normal for mothers to photoshop barbed wire tats around their 3 yr old’s arm?  Huh.

Here’s the storyboard I fully intend on printing someday!

vacation picture overload | Caribbean Cruise

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

I would like to apologize in advance for a few things…

~neglecting the old blog for so many weeks

~subjecting you to a horrifyingly large amount of vacation pictures

~being forced to view me in a swimsuit countless times in aforementioned vacation pictures

We had splendid time on our cruise…it is such a slick way to go on a trip.  You get on a giant boat…they feed you, and give you a bed.  They drive you to a gorgeous island, you get up, go explore for a few hours…lay on the beach, then go back to the ship, grab a snack, a nap & a shower before you head down for dinner.  Your biggest decisions for the evening include ordering 2 deserts or 3 (I made Korey order the extra’s for me!!), and which show to go see (the stand-up comedian, or the broadway musical).  Then they take you to a new island, and the cycle continues…Not to say it was a flawless vacation.  For one thing the ship rocked like nobody’s business…I thought I would be like one of those salty old sea dogs who doesn’t flinch at a little sea-spray…the first night I had to take a double-dose of Dramamine and skip the celebratory drink fest we had planned :)

For your viewing pleasure, I’ll work through the week chronologically …please keep in mind that these are all shot with a point and shoot camera, and I did not take all of them (obviously, I’m in 1/2 the shots!!).   FYI-the other couple in all of the pictures is Korey’s sister Krista & her husband Aaron…we used to go on little trips together all the time (as in camping, casino’ing, etc.), and we’ve been talking about doing a cruise together for about 4 years.  I know this won’t be our last!

SAN JUAN~

Our Sunday travel day was smooth, got right on the ship and got situated in no time!

ST. THOMAS-ST. JOHNS~

Monday we arrived bright and early in St. Thomas.   We took a ferry ride to a beach called Trunks Bay in St. John’s.   It was GORGEOUS.  We all agreed that we would love to come back to this island and stay longer.   Here’s my new screen saver :)

We snorkled here…lots of pretty fish…nothing dangerous or scary, just a lot of fun!

Every time we got back to the ship, Korey insisted we stop someone to take our picture in front of the boat…he was very insistant…whatev.  Oh, and those drinks Krista and I are holding…the BEST Pina Colada e.v.e.r.  The place was called BONES, and they would fill up your glass with the pina colada mix, and then hand you the bottle of rum, and let you fill it as full as you wanted…who does that??

DAY AT SEA!  Tuesday was our only day at sea.  The night before, Krista came down with a stomach bug…she didn’t sleep all night, and stayed in her room all of Tuesday.  By Tues afternoon, she decided to go to the ships infirmary…they checked her out, and decided that she was to be quarenteened to her room for another 24 hours.  She missed ALL of Tues & Wed…that sucked :(

There is a picture below of Kor on a deck chair in our secret hideaway.  We discovered that the best place to lounge around was on the top deck where they had the jogging track.  We would sit up there and eat ice-cream cones in the sun while people jogged around us.

BARABADOS~

Wednesday, Kor and I headed into Barbados by ourselves…felt a little lost without our travel buddies :)   We took a taxi tour of the area, and ended at a beach for a few hours…Barbados was the furthest south we got on our trip…apparently quite a few famous actors have places on the island…we couldn’t figure out why, the place was kind of a dump :(   They did have fun little green monkeys running around though…check out the picture of Kor being all spiritual by the church…the sunflare adds a nice angelic touch, don’t you think?!

ST. LUCIA

Thursday we did an all day open-air Jeep Tour of St. Lucia.  It was the best tour…the island is stunning…they shot parts of Jurassic Park there…my little point and shoot camera in a moving vehicle does not do it justice.

Our tour guide for the day was pretty well-known on the island…everyone came up to his van for a drink of his special ‘jungle juice’ (rum punch).  They took us to a sulfer springs spot for a ’spa treatment’ (this includes rubbing mud all over your body-which smells like rotten eggs), and then driving us to a really pretty waterfall to wash it all off!

DRESS UP!  Irrefutable proof that we showered & groomed every night!

ST. KITTS~

Friday was St. Kitts…yet another very pretty island.  We just went to a beach and soaked up the sun.  Aaron drank a bucket of STAG beer (locally brewed).

ST. MARTIN~

Another beach day for us!  We were running low on funds by this point, so we just took a little taxi ride to a nearby beach…oh, the first pictures are of us being super cool and mature…I was trying to do a ‘motorboat’ picture on the top left, but it turned out blurry, so you just get me smiling :)

SAN JUAN~

Sunday morning we were back at our original port of San Juan…we took a tour of the Bacardi factory…our flight wasn’t until 5pm, and we had to do something!

Sunday night, things went downhill fast…we spent the better part of 6 hours in the san juan airport killing time until our late flight (fyi-not the greatest airport for hanging out), then we landed in Charlotte, only to find out that our connecting flight was cancelled.  We got to the ‘help’ desk, and they told us the first flight out was Wednesday at 10pm…FOUR days?  Seriously, this is 2011 people!  After spending many hours on the phone early Monday morning, we were able to secure a fight home on Tuesday afternoon.  I felt awful leaving my parents stuck with my 3 kiddo’s for that long!   When we finally came to pick them up, I greeted my mom with a few bottles of wine~hopefully she was able to un-wind after their extended visit :)

Allrighty, thanks for making it through all those pictures…I have lots of cute sessions to be share soon!

happy valentines day | buffalo/monticello, mn kids photographer

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

Clothes packed?  check.  Kids ready to be passed off to assorted family members?  check.  Every possible medicine known to man squeezed into a ziplock bag (just in case)?  check.  We are heading out on our cruise today!  Flying down to San Juan…I’ll try to control my excitement and the over abundance of exclamation points!  See, just one :)   I’m sure I’ll have a few good stories to tell when I get back…I don’t know how great the pictures are going to be…I’m traveling light, just my little point and shoot camera.  I debated forever, and finally decided that I don’t want to worry about anything while I’m on vacation, except for the really important things…like where the front of the buffet line is…and how many margaritas I can carry…and is my back looking pink, maybe I should flip over…

So, I’ve been working on updating my website…it’s such putsy work, but I’m almost finished tweaking…check it out HERE!  (click on the ‘website’ link)  All of the galleries have been updated…I’ve got a new what people are saying section where my clients were gracious enough to write some really sweet testimonials about me and my business.  I have a new price guide which lists all of my 2011 prices, with pictures along side it to help show what I sell.

Here are my kiddo’s valentines cards.  I know, I’m that annoying mom that sends her kids to school with press printed cards…I started a few years ago, and until my kids are too embarassed to hand them out, I’m going to keep doing it!
